The solo show Stay Forever examines the places that made me pause, to remain, to stay, forever in the moment. A potent feeling coupled with a specific time, creating a memory that then transcends time altogether. A feeling that marks a time so intensely that the moment will endure, offering a state that can exist eternally.
Stay Forever captures and keeps the moments where I was able to exist without time alongside me over the last ten years. The experiences I wanted to last forever, so I made them physical with the ambition to acknowledge art’s ability to immortalise time and place in a way so material and opposing to the intangibility of memory, while both serve as an homage to a time and place now passed.
Stay Forever invites you to experience walking to my first London television job from Waterloo station, along the bridge looking East over the Thames; the last light of a burning sunset on Canada’s Pacific coast while I explored the country that holds my second identity; optimistic verdant fields near the house I grew up in. This solo exhibition captures the places that offer a moment and place to return to. Their physicality coupled with intimate feeling allows one to stay in the moment, forever.
